About Jovan Landry
Jovan Landry is a multidisciplinary artist— one-third filmmaker, one-third photographer, and one-third emcee—whose work fuses music, film, and visual art into a dynamic practice rooted in empowerment, authenticity, and collaboration. Since 2008, she’s crafted work that reflects the stories and cultures of the communities she represents. A Columbia College Chicago graduate with a B.A. in Film & Video, Jovan has directed music videos, dance films, and documentaries featured in several film screenings, performed original hip-hop on global stages, and self-released five projects. Her electrifying presence and self-empowering lyrics have earned features on NPR, Bandcamp, and the Chicago Tribune. In 2017, she received the WeWork Creator Award to produce Synergy, the first all-women-produced, performed, and engineered hip-hop album based in Chicago. Today, Jovan continues composing for artists, producing podcasts and dance scores, teaching screen dance at Columbia College, and hosting the Invite Only Podcast. Also, a 3x award-winning natural bodybuilder, she merges discipline and artistry, proving you can thrive in any arena you choose.
